First Day of Finals

U/15's vs SAUCNA Red in first final - SAUCNA Red finished 3rd, AYC finished 4th.

The game lineup was as follows:

Chloe Eiszele:  GA, GA, GA, GA
Linda Fish:  --, --, GK, GK
Bocky King:  --, --, WA, WD
Issy Pace:  --, --, --, WA
Nikayla Roach:  C, C, C, --
Amy Rainbird:  WA, WA, WD, C
Matilda Wiggins:  GD, GD, GD, --
Sharni Wylie:  GS, GS, GS, GS
Chelsea York:  GK, GK, --, GD

The girls started the game very well and went into the first quarter break 1 goal up.
Once again, lack of confidence and inaccuracy from the goalies put them behind by 6 at half time.
Matilda Wiggins played well in defence with Chelsea during the first half.

SAUCNA goalies were strong in the 3rd quarter and with their slick movements in the circle and accurate shooting increased their lead at three quarter time.

AYC defenders (WD, GD & GK) worked hard in the final quarter and were taking some great intercepts, but once again lack of confidence from their goalies and inaccurate shooting enabled SAUCNA to win the game.

Quarter by quarter scores were:
Q1 :  12 -11
Q2 :  12 - 22
Q3 :  24 - 32
Final score : 33 - 42

Day 6 - U/15's vs SAUCNA Blue

So sorry I'm late with this report :(

The girls played SAUCNA Blue on Thursday night at 5.00pm.
It was a VERY hot day - (reached 29 degrees) and the temp hadnt reduced much by the time the girls played.

Whoever won this game would progress through to the Semi Final on Friday.

Our girls played very well and were eventual winners 47-44.

YAY - Now play First Semi Final (3rd vs 4th) on Friday against SAUCNA Red (tough game)

Day 5 - u/15's vs Marleston Red

The girls had their second win today against Marleston Red.
They played harder at the ball and were in better spirits !!

The lineup for the game was as follows:
 ,
Chloe Eiszele:  GA, GA, GA, GA
Linda Fish:  --, --, GK, GK
Bocky King:  WA, --, C, C
Isabella King:  --, --, WA, WA
Amy Rainbird:  C, C, --, --
Nikayla Roach:  --, WA, WD, WD
Renae Stone:  WD, WD, --, --
Matilda Wiggins:  GD, GD, --, GD
Sharni Wylie: GS, GS, GS, --
Chelsea York:  GK, GK, GD, GS

The Quarter by Quarter Scores were:
Q1 - 13 - 3
Q2 - 27 - 8
Q3 - 37 - 12
Q4 - 48 - 18

They now have a slight chance of making the finals on Friday.  The girls will need to win their game tomorrow against SAUCNA Blue (weaker SAUCNA team) which then put AYC, SAUCNA Blue and Marleston Red all on the same points - Fourth place will then be decided by percentage.

Day 4 - u/15's vs SAUCNA Red

The girls played SAUCNA (South Australian United Church Netball Assoc) Red in their first of two games today.

The lineup  for the day was as follows:

Chloe Eiszele:
Linda Fish:
Bocky King:
Isabella Pace:
Amy Rainbird:
Nikayla Roach:
Renae Stone:
Matilda Wiggins:
Sharni Wylie:
Chelsea York:

The girls went into the first quarter only 3 goals down, but lack of confidence from our goalies enabled SAUCNA to extend their lead to 9 at half time and it followed that trend for the rest of the game.

Chelsea and Linda worked hard in defence and Matilda assisted them when she game into the game.

SAUCNA won the game 39 - 23

Day 3 - u/15's vs Marleston Blue

The girls played Marleston Blue at 12.30pm today.

The game's line up was as follows:

Chloe Eiszele:  GA, GA, GA, GA
Linda Fish:  GK, GK, --, --
Bocky King:  C, C, --, WA
Isabella Pace:  --, --, WA, --
Amy Rainbird:  WA, WA, --, WD
Nikayla Roach:  --, --, C, C
Renae Stone:  WD, --, WD, --
Matilda Wiggins:  --, --, GK, GK
Sharni Wylie:  GS, GS, GS, GS
Chelsea York:  GD, GD, GD, GD

The game started well and AYC were only trailling by 1 goal at quarter time.
They were still in the game but trailling by 4 at half time due to lack of confidence in the goal circle.
Chels worked hard again in GD for the whole game and was assisted by Linda in GK and Renae in WD.
Bocky King replaced Isabella Pace in the third quarter due to a leg injury (ankle?)

Marleston increased their lead to 10 during the third quarter out scoring the girls 14-8, and this trend continued with Marleston winning the game 45-34

Scores:    Q1  8 - 9
                 Q2 14 - 18
                 Q3 22 - 32
                 Q4 34 - 45

Best Players: Chelsea York, Renae Stone and Sharni Wylie

Day 2 - U/15's vs Port Adelaide

I had been told by South Australian friends that Port Adelaide was the team to look out for in the Championships - and they were right !!!
AYC started well, but with lack of confidence and inaccurate shooting in goals, PANA soon had the upper hand at the quarter time break.

AYC's line up for the game was as follows:

Chloe Eiszele:  GA, GA, --, --
Linda Fish:  GK, GK, GK, --
Bocky King:  C, C, WD, --
Isabella Pace:  --, --, WA, WA
Amy Rainbird:  WA, WA, GA, GA
Nikayla Roach:  --, --, C, C
Renae Stone (C):  WD, WD, --, WD
Matilda Wiggins:  --, --, GD, GD
Sharni Wylie:  GS, GS, --, GK
Chelsea York (VC):  GD, GD, GS, GS

Bocky King and Amy Rainbird teamed well through the centre court during the first half and Chelsea and Renae were assisted by Bocky with applying pressure on the PANA attackers.

PANA's lead continued to increase and Coach Peter Brockman made the tough decision to move Chelsea from GD into GS and Matilda Wiggins came into the game at GD.

Chelsea played her usual strong holding game in the circle and shot confidently (18/24).  The team lifted and matched PANA in the final quarter, but the damage had been done and PANA were runout winners 58-34.

Best players:  Chelsea York, Amy Rainbird and Bocky King

Day 1 - Opening Ceremony and First Game against Corcoran Park

CANA National Championships commenced today.

The Opening Ceremony commenced at 9.30am.
The Under 15's played their first game against Corcoran Park (Townsville) at 2.00pm.

The weather was very hot at the courts during their game.

The game line for the first quarter was:

GS:  Sharni Wylie
GA: Chloe Eiszele
WA: Nikayla Roach
C:  Bocky King
WD: Renae Stone
GD: Chelsea York
GK: Linda Fish
Res: Isabella Pace
Res: Matilda Wiggins
Res: Amy Rainbird

Chelsea played hard in GD and was backed up by Bocky and Renae through the Centre Court.
Chloe tried hard in goals and was clearly the stronger scorer, but inaccurate shots by both goalies and turnovers let them down.

Amy Rainbird came into the game at WD in the third quarter and was the player to watch.  She took some awesome intercepts and was applying extreme pressure on her opposing attackers.

Bocky played a strong game Centre along with Tilly in GK when she came into the game at quarter time.

The quarter time scores were:

1st:  5 - 7
2nd: 13 - 13
3rd:  23 - 23
Final Score:  32 - 34
